Project of EU delegated cooperation aimed to support local media in Moldova

About the project

The project named EU Support for Local Media Outlets in Moldova will be implemented in Moldova. It will focus on promoting a more conducive environment for local media in order to strengthen their capacity, independence, sustainability and professionalism, as well as their ability to produce quality, evidence-based, balanced and reliable journalistic content.

At the same time, the project aimed to support the independence of the media represents a means of creating objective news and a protection tool against the spread of misinformation that negatively affects the atmosphere in public discourse.

EU delegated cooperation

It will be the first EU delegated cooperation project and for the first time in history, SAIDC will be the main implementing body of this European project.

"Delegated cooperation means that entities that have met demanding criteria and been audited by the European Commission can, on its behalf, oversee the implementation of development projects funded by EU funds. The first project of delegated cooperation funded by European Neighbourhood Instrument is an important milestone and a challenge for SAIDC. I am glad that it will be implemented in Moldova, which is a SlovakAid program country and we have extensive experience with development cooperation, " explained the director of SAIDC, Mr Tomáš Bokor.

"By obtaining the authority to carry out the delegated cooperation, SAIDC confirmed that it was a trusted partner and was in a position to effectively administer the entrusted EU funds. This project in Moldova will be an invaluable experience for SAIDC and also represents an opportunity for Slovak entities to participate in development activities financed from the EU budget,” added the State Secretary of Slovak MFEA, Mrs Ingrid Brocková.
