Humanitarian projects

Humanitarian aid is an expression of solidarity with people in countries affected by natural disasters, the changing environment, civil wars or social conflicts. The aim is to reduce the negative effects of humanitarian crises, save lives, human dignity and alleviate human suffering in the event of natural disasters, man-made crises, pandemics, hunger and malnutrition or comparable emergencies, as well as prevention and emergency programs, especially in high-risk areas. Humanitarian aid is provided to people regardless of their origin, religion or political beliefs and in accordance with the principles of humanity, independence, impartiality and neutrality.

Development projects

Financial contributions

Financial contributions are used in the development cooperation (bilateral and multilateral), including humanitarian aid. The conditions for their provision are defined by the Development Cooperation Act.

Sharing Slovak Expertise - SSE

SSE offers and passes on (through study visits, sending of experts, internships, roundtables and seminars) Slovak expertise, experience and recommendations from public sector reforms in various areas. This tool also supports the capacity building of public administration and local self-government in partner countries.

Private Sector Engagement Program - PSE

The key factor of development is the support of sustainable economic growth, job creation, as well as supporting mobilization of domestic resources and improving business climate in the partner countries of the official development cooperation of the Slovak Republic (ODA SR). Therefore, the private sector engagement (PSE) is a necessary condition for the success of development activities.

Volunteers sending projects

Volunteering, as an activity in support of the good, carried out in free will and with free choice, is one of the important pillars also in the framework of development cooperation and humanitarian aid. Volunteer, resp. expert, is a person who, on a voluntary basis and without claim to remuneration, provides his (professional) knowledge in the field of development cooperation and humanitarian aid, capacity building of non-governmental organizations, public educational and health institutions and communities in partner developing countries.

Global and development education projects

Global and Development Education (GDE) forms an integral part of the official development cooperation of the Slovak Republic (SR). Slovak Agency for International Development Cooperation (SAIDC) annually supports GDE projects in Slovakia through its call for proposals. The aim is to improve the integration, quality and effectiveness of development education as well as to systematically raise public awareness of development cooperation of the SR.
