SLOVAK - UNDP PARTNERSHIP

Since 2000, the UNDP has been cooperating with so-called new EU Member States as emerging donors. The UNDP’s partnership with the Slovak Republic (established in 2002) is the oldest initiative of its kind in Europe and Central Asia. It has been designed to provide advice on development policies and tools, help in managing and assessment of the projects, designing and adjusting small grants schemes and technical assistance for partners.

The main partners are:

  1. the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic (MFEA SR),
  2. the Ministry of Finance of the Slovak Republic (MF SR)

The Slovak - UNDP- Partnership: Effective Development Cooperation Solutions for the SDGs is the latest project, launched in 2018. Its main initiatives include:

      1. The transfer of Slovak expertise and unique innovative solutions to address specific development challenges in North Macedonia and the Republic of Moldova through the Slovak Challenge Fund;
      2. The support to the South Eastern and Eastern Europe Clearinghouse for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (SEESAC);
      3. The financial contribution to the Ukraine Energy Efficiency Secretariat and Expert Hub, managed by the UNDP Ukraine.

The partnership between Slovak Ministry of Finance and the UNDP is presented in two umbrella projects:

    1. The Public and Private Finance for Development weaves itself around two core themes:

The Public Finance for Development programme, which is implemented since 2009, contributes to sound public finance management and good governance in SlovakAid partner countries. In 2017, a “private finance” component was added to the programme.

The Resource Mobilization Facility is evolved to support pre-investment studies for future investment projects under the auspices of the UNDP Country Offices.

    1. The Transformative Governance and Finance Facility streams to support the  potential use of  data revolution, new technologies and other innovations for improved governance and sustainable development
