SlovakAid supports the ONE WORLD Festival

The 23rd year of the ONE WORLD International Film Festival will welcome its participants at home from November 5 to 11, because HOME is its theme this year.

In recent years, the experience of the pandemic has tied us to our homes. For some, it is associated with positive life innovations, such as baking bread or spending time with family. However, there are also people among us who experience unwanted violence at home, who lost their homes due to war or climate change, or who never had one at all. Not for everyone, one of the basic words in our vocabulary is associated with heat, which he likes. With films from around the world, discussions and meetings, the festival will bring closer the complex relationships, connections of companies, countries, cultures, history, environment and economies in the globalized world.

The festival is the flagship of our long-term partner, the non-profit organization Human in Danger, and at the same time the largest and oldest documentary event in Slovakia. The audience can watch the festival films not only in the cinema, but also online anywhere in Slovakia.

In this way, it will be possible to participate on Thursday, November 10 at 4:30 p.m. discussions Café Europe: Europe after the war. Andrea Najvirtová will talk with Katarína Mathernová, director of the European Commission's Support Group for Ukraine, and Tomáš Bokor, director of the Slovak Agency for International Development Cooperation, about how the Russian military aggression against Ukraine brought the European Union into the spotlight again - about EU membership and challenges for the candidate countries of Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova. The last two mentioned are program countries of Slovakia's official development aid, Ukraine is also a partner country for Slovakia, for whose help an urgent humanitarian appeal was announced this year and from which four projects are already being implemented on its territory these days.

The live broadcast of the discussion will be available on the festival's website and on SlovakAid's Facebook page. Together with the organizers, we invite you to watch with the motto #vitajdoma #welcomehome.
