UNDP

In September 2018, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic and UNDP established a Partnership for effective solutions in the field of development cooperation with a focus on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for the period 2018-2021.

This is the fourth such partnership, and it builds on previous cooperation with UNDP (since 2003) and focuses on the effective engagement of Slovak private sector in development cooperation, in particular in the Western Balkans and the EU's Eastern Partnership countries, as well as supporting security sector reform in the Western Balkans.

SAIDC cooperates with UNDP and MFEA SR on the development of two other tools to support the private sector engagement in development cooperation - Rozvojmajstri and the UNDP Slovak Challenge Fund.

Rozvojmajstri

SAMRS regularly communicates and cooperates with UNDP, MFEA SR, MFSR and the consulting company Aspiro, which is implementing the Rozvojmajstri project. In 2020, we addressed the expansion of the database of entrepreneurs and the adjustment of the portfolio of companies in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

We also linked with the Rozvojmajstri team several companies that were interested in development cooperation and offered their solutions in the context of the ongoing pandemic.

The database is regularly updated, and serves Slovak companies that are interested and have the potential to engage in development cooperation through participation in international tenders of development institutions and the EU.

Slovak Challenge Fund

As part of the cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic and UNDP, a call was opened in 2020 for the submission of projects financed under the Slovak Challenge Fund. The allocation amounted to $190,000. Together 20 applications from the private sector were received and the evaluation committee has selected five applications with a total value of $167,529.

These projects will support the transfer of innovative solutions in four sectors to Moldova and Northern Macedonia (max. subsidy is 40 thousand USD/project).
