These are among the results of the project <\/strong><em><strong>Development Education for Journalists and the Public<\/strong><\/em><strong>, implemented by People in Peril (\u010clovek v ohrozen\u00ed) between 2023 and 2025 through Slovak Agency for International Development Cooperation (SAIDC) under SlovakAid.<\/strong><\/p><p>The project aimed to raise awareness of global and development issues by improving education and training opportunities for aspiring and practising journalists and making relevant content more accessible to the wider public.<\/p><p>It focused on topics such as climate change, migration, human rights, gender equality and other global challenges, highlighting their connections to everyday life in Slovakia.<\/p><\/p>\n    <\/div>\n\n    \t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c309976 elementor-widget elementor-widget-image\" data-id=\"c309976\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"image.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1198\" height=\"412\" src=\"https:\/\/slovakaid.sk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/11\/492025259_1103719795134103_9091152079109652649_n-1198x412.jpg\" class=\"attachment-home-gallery-image-f3 size-home-gallery-image-f3 wp-image-39357\" alt=\"Svet medzi riadkami - panelov\u00e1 diskusia\nWorld between lines - panel discussion\" \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fb3cc96 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text\" data-id=\"fb3cc96\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\n    <div class=\"custom-elementor-widget widget-text\">\n      <p><h2 data-pm-slice=\"1 1 []\">Global Issues in Journalism Education<\/h2><p>A key focus of the project was integrating global and development issues into university education.<\/p><p>Educational activities were carried out in cooperation with three Slovak universities: Comenius University in Bratislava, Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra, and the University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava.<\/p><p><strong>More than 300 aspiring journalists participated in the educational activities<\/strong>, significantly exceeding the originally planned number of participants.<\/p><p>The project helped expand educational opportunities related to global issues at the partner universities and laid the groundwork for their continuation beyond the project's completion. Several female students also expressed an interest in exploring development-related topics in their bachelor's or master's theses.<\/p><\/p>\n    <\/div>\n\n    \t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-9f3a6ab elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"9f3a6ab\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-d920e79\" data-id=\"d920e79\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4a35110 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text\" data-id=\"4a35110\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\n    <div class=\"custom-elementor-widget widget-text\">\n      <p><h2 data-pm-slice=\"1 1 []\">Training Journalists and Strengthening Media Cooperation<\/h2><p>The project also supported the professional development of practising journalists. <strong>More than 200 journalists participated in training activities<\/strong>, gaining opportunities to deepen their understanding of global issues, exchange experiences and establish new professional connections.<\/p><p>The project included cooperation with major Slovak media outlets and the organisation of the <em>Svet medzi riadkami<\/em> journalism festival. The project also organised nine public discussions and developed or made available additional educational resources.<\/p><p>Activities targeting educators helped inform nearly 3,000 teachers about available educational materials and opportunities to use them in their teaching.<\/p><p>Project activities also included public discussions held at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jedensvet.sk\/jeden-svet-2024\/\"><strong>One World 2024 International Documentary Film Festival<\/strong><\/a>, bringing global and development issues closer to wider audiences.
